Growth Outlook: Where the Portfolio Is Headed

Sector focus, how new companies enter the portfolio, and the operating platform that feeds it. Strategy as stated in the company's disclosures, with no projections.

Two engines, one listed company

Scalare Partners runs an operating business and an investment portfolio inside one ASX listed company. The operating business supports founders through communities and events, structured programs and diagnostics, and support services. That activity produces the company's revenue, and it is also where the company sees the founders it later considers backing.

The investment side takes direct equity positions from the company's own balance sheet, at pre seed or seed stage, with a maximum initial cheque of $250,000. After investing, Scalare typically takes a board or advisory role.

Where the company says it is focused

The portfolio currently spans 27 companies across five countries (Australia, the United States, Europe, Singapore and New Zealand) and eight sectors. The company describes its focus areas as technology businesses with long term potential in the following fields.

How new companies enter the portfolio

  1. A founder joins the ecosystem through a community, campus, program or service run by Scalare's operating business. The company reports 956 or more founders supported in the last twelve months and more than 10,500 to date.
  2. The company observes the business through that work before any capital is considered. Scalare states that its investments are sourced from within its own ecosystem rather than from external deal channels.
  3. Where the company decides to invest, it does so from its own balance sheet, keeping the initial cheque small and taking a board or advisory role after investment.
  4. The operating platform itself has grown by acquisition, including Tank Stream Labs, Planet Startup, Inhouse Ventures, Tech Ready Women, the Australian Technologies Competition and Fishburners, and the launch of The Founders Union.

What this page does not say

This page describes the company's stated strategy as set out in its ASX disclosures. It contains no projections of revenue, returns or share price, and no forecast of how many companies will be added or when. Early stage investing carries a high rate of failure, and the value of a listed company holding early stage positions can fall as well as rise. Any decision should be made with the company's full ASX disclosures and, where appropriate, licensed advice.
